When parents are knowledgeable about how young children think about adoption and what they commonly wonder about their life story, they feel more confident in responding to their child's questions and feelings. Families have many opportunities to shape a child-sized version of how their family came together that will grow in complexity along with their child. Recognizing how young children communicate through play and behavior, as well as words, strengthens parent-child understanding and security in ways that benefit the family for many years. This is an 8 session workshop that helps parents to:

~ Begin an open dialogue with your child that is responsive to his/her questions about adoption.

~ Communicate in his/her language -- through play, drawings and casual conversation.

~ Learn from other adoptive parents as you discuss your experiences and those of your children.

~ Address issues relevant to international, domestic and foster care adoptions.
